Does Brady's Injury Have a Silver Lining For The Patriots?

I finally flip to football Sunday and find the Chiefs and the Patriots playing each other. "Wow, this game is over" was the first thought in my mind. Yet, as I look the at the score, I'm astonished to see that the Chiefs are hanging in there. Then I hear that Tom Brady is out with an injury, and the hater in me smiled a little.

While I'm no fan of the Patriots, I'm not ready to say this is the worst thing that could happen to the Patriots. Now don't get me wrong, I understand that the loss of Brady is a huge blow to the Patriots machine, but there might be some rays of sunlight coming through the clouds.

Tom Brady is coming off the best statistical year ever, but in all probability Brady would not put up the same kind of numbers. Brady has had injury problems before the season ever started, and after last year, the Patriots have a huge target on their back.

Yet, if Brady is out for the season and all goes well with his knee, he can come back completely healthy and without the huge expectations to compare to his record breaking year.

Yet, this injury may not only be a good thing for Brady, but the Patriots as a whole. One might be lead to believe that the Patriots are at best a 7-9 team from the talk of sports commentators, but there is still a lot of talent on the team.

With Brady being injured the Patriots go from Super Bowl favorites, to lucky if they make it into the postseason for most people. Now that the Patriots are seen as being weak, they can effectively fly under the radar, and leave it to Bill Belichick to make brillant game plans around this fact.

The last advantage of this injury is that fans may no longer have high hopes. In fact, some may have already given up on the season and started getting ready for next year. As such, does it matter if the Patriots win or lose?

After the Super Bowl loss of last year, it may make all the difference to the players to have that burden pulled of their shoulders. So, while Brady being injured is a huge blow, there might be a rainbow for Patriots fans yet.
