Fantasy Football Week 16: Ranking Wide Receivers
With Championship Week about to get under way with the Steelers and Panthers game (discuss game) in a few hours, here are some news and notes about wide receivers and pass defenses:
Cowboys wide receiver Miles Austin has four games with 25 yards or less in his last seven games played. During that span, Austin has only one game with more than 50 receiving yards.
Redskins receiver Anthony Armstrong had the first 100-yard game of his NFL career in Sunday's loss to the Cowboys. Although he's unlikely to reach the 1,000 yard milestone for the season, he needs 228 with two games to go.
Despite having Drew Stanton as his quarterback, Lions receiver Calvin Johnson led all players in receiving yards (152) in Week 15.
Buffalo receiver David Nelson, who is available in almost every Yahoo! Fantasy league, has scored a touchdown in three consecutive games.
San Francisco receiver Josh Morgan has played much better than the team's number one receiver in the past two weeks. During that span, Morgan has ten receptions for 188 yards and a touchdown while Crabtree has four receptions for 18 yards.
Pittsburgh's Mike Wallace hasn't scored a touchdown in four consecutive games. That said, he has four 100 yard games in his last seven games played.
Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco hasn't practiced on Wednesday or Thursday. To make things more interesting, coach Marvin Lewis called him "mopey" while Ochocinco tweeted, "Since when the f--- am I ever mopey?..."
Arizona's Larry Fitzgerald season-highs in receptions (nine) and yards (125) in last week's game. On Christmas night this week, Fitzgerald faces the Cowboys who have allowed the most fantasy points to opposing receivers. In addition, the Cowboys have allowed a touchdown to receivers in every game except Week 1.
Here are my top ten fantasy wide receivers for Week 16:
1. Andre Johnson, Texans (at DEN)
2. Calvin Johnson, Lions (at MIA)
