NFL Picks Week 16: Can the Colts Crush the Raiders?

NFL Picks Week 16 is here, it's officially crunch time. There are just two games remaining on the schedule for most teams, and many playoff spots are still up for grabs.
The NFC Wild Card hunt is keeping the Green Bay Packers alive, but the New York Giants stand in their way, just a game ahead.
Meanwhile, the AFC West race puts Kansas City just a game ahead of San Diego, and the Chargers are coming on strong.
In all the chaos that is the NFL playoff picture, here are some helpful hints to calm your nerves, or help you make plans for January without football.
Here are the picks for the top NFL games this week.

NFL Picks Week 16:
The reigning Super Bowl Champs will take on this year's best record when the Saints meet the Falcons on Monday Night Football. The Tweets are already swirling, with both teams firing cyber rounds at one another.
New Orleans looks to have locked up a playoff berth by way of Wild Card, but sits two games back of the Falcons in the NFC South. There is no doubt the Saints would rather have the division title and a bye in the first round, but Atlanta has won eight in a row and 12 of their last 14 games.
Matt Ryan is in the driver's seat in this one, and the Falcons have already defeated the Saints in OT earlier this year. A repeat may be in order, and there may be a new team to fear in the NFL.
Prediction Score: Falcons 28, Saints 25

NFL Picks Week 16:
The Eagles have won three in a row and are in prime position to win he NFC East with teams like the Vikings and Cowboys left on the schedule. When Philadelphia takes on Favre-less Minnesota, what would normally be a drama-filled contest will actually be Michael Vick showing young Joe Webb how the pass/run dual threat can be lethal.
Webb was impressive entering the game in the first quarter after Favre suffered a season-ending, and perhaps career-ending concussion. Webb has a similar style of leadership under center. Both QBs have the ability to scramble effectively, but Vick seems to be on another level as of late.
Look for the Eagles to control this one, and win the NFC East, just ahead of the Giants.
Prediction Score: Eagles 38, Vikings 10

NFL Picks Week 16:
The Seahawks are in the playoff hunt, but they don't seem to match up well with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, despite the Crimson and Silver struggling as of late.
Both teams are still in the playoff hunt, although Tampa's playoff picture is bleak in comparison to the Seahawks. The Buccaneers are a game behind the Giants in the Wild Card, but it appears the Giants will control their own destiny while the Packers are bowing out.
Tampa will pick up the win in this one, as Josh Freeman and LeGarrette Blount are gaining notice around the league for breakthrough performances. Last season the Bucs finished 3-13, so another win before taking on the Saints would round out a solid year.
Prediction Score: Buccaneers 28, Seahawks 16

NFL Picks Week 16:
The Packers are still mathematically involved in the playoff picture, however their victory cry is becoming more and more faint by the day. They will have to conquer the 9-4 New York Giants, who are a game back of the surging Philadelphia Eagles.
Aaron Rodgers is back for the Green Bay Packers, but it may be too little too late for the Cheese Head faithful. The Giants still have Eli Manning, and Justin Tuck.
This one might be close at first, but it appears the Giants are playoff bound and the Packers are limping just to stay relevant.
Prediction Score: Giants 27, Packers 13

NFL Picks Week 16:
Who would have thought a match-up between the Indianapolis Colts and Oakland Raiders with two weeks left in the season would have serious playoff implications? Of course I'm not talking about the Raiders, but if the Colts were as dominant as they've been in past years, they would have locked up the division and played their second string against the Raiders.
But don't overlook Oakland, who surprisingly is doing ok this season. At 7-7, if the Chiefs and Chargers world came crashing down in the last two weeks, and they can pull off a miracle against the Colts and head-to-head with the Chiefs in the final week, they might have a chance. Anyone want to run the numbers?
Prediction Score: Colts 35, Raiders 21

NFL Picks Week 16:
The Chargers couldn't have asked for more while trying to chase down the division-leading Chiefs. They will face off against the Cincinnati Bengals and their 3-11 disappointment. You think that's good timing? Try mass flooding at Qualcomm while they will be on the road in Ohio.
For the Bengals, the 2010 season will go down as a major disappointment. Who knew having two reality TV stars as throwing targets for an over-rated QB would lead to disappointment? Handing the ball off to Cedric Benson would be a good idea in this one, but it really won't matter.
The Chargers offense will have their way with the Bengals defense, and this one will be over quickly.
Prediction Score: Chargers 45, Bengals 17

NFL Picks Week 16:
The Ravens are riding high following their six-point victory over the New Orleans Saints. They are in prime position to win a Wild Card berth, but have caught the Steelers in the AFC North, and have two games to win the division. Standing in their way: the Browns and the Bengals. Seems like they have a pretty good chance. The Steelers have Carolina and Cleveland, so no help for the Ravens there.
This one seems to be a landslide for the Ravens, as they defeat their origins remake handily. Joe Flacco and Ray Rice have been tearing it up lately, while the M.O. of the Ravens is stingy defense, and they love playing their role.
Prediction Score: Ravens 42, Browns 10

NFL Picks Week 16:
The Jets are 10-4 but still haven't locked in a playoff spot. However, a win over the Chicago Bears would lock in a Wild Card spot and a chance at the division, if only a slim chance since they are chasing the Patriots.
This one will be cold, but neither team seems to mind. The Bears have already secured the NFC North Division title, owning the tie breaker over Green Bay.
Mark Sanchez is suddenly look like a QB that can lead an offense, while Jay Cutler can keep throwing interceptions without caution. Last week, Sanchez led the Jets back against the Steelers to claim a 22-17 victory.
This game is definitely one to watch, and you can catch it on CBS at 1 ET Sunday.
Prediction Score: Jets 24, Bears 20

NFL Picks Week 16:
The season is over early, but the Chiefs are still able to make the playoffs. They are a single game ahead of the Chargers, and control their own destiny with a slightly soft remaining schedule. After Tennessee, the Chiefs finish their season with the Oakland Raiders at home.
Matt Cassel is out to prove he is a solid starter, with the ability to take his team to the playoffs and be successful there. Kansas City's running back tandem of Jamaal Charles and Thomas Jones will make this one interesting.
In the end, the Chiefs will prove they want the game more, and if they don't, things will get very sticky in the West. For the sake of sanity, the Chiefs need this one.
Prediction Score: Chiefs 27, Titans 10

NFL Picks Week 16:
The San Francisco 49ers are 4-9, and are in the playoff hunt. No, that isn't a typo, and yes, it is ridiculous. The NFC West has all four teams separated by just two games. The Arizona Cardinals are not in the picture, but a 49ers victory over the Rams would make things even more interesting in the weakest division in the NFL.
This match-up is a showcase of two powerful running backs. The game will likely come down to which defense stops the running game. Frank Gore will go up against Steven Jackson, and it looks like the 49ers take this one, furthering the confusion and controversy in the West.
Prediction Score: 49ers 27, Rams 21

NFL Picks Week 16:
The Jacksonville Jaguars are on the playoff bubble. They are tied with the Indianapolis Colts for first place in the AFC South.
Meanwhile, the Washington Redskins are completely out of the playoffs, which is an understatement to how their season has unfolded.
If the Jaguars can pull one out over the Redskins and Rex Grossman, they stand a good chance of making this season a one-game audition. The Colts will be playing the Raiders, and stack up well for a victory.
Perhaps the biggest story in the Nation's Capital is the upcoming absence of Donovan McNabb in the final two games of the year. McNabb will be benched in favor of Grossman.
With McNabb out, and Grossman throwing the average number of interceptions he usually throws, the Jaguars may receive a gift in Week 16.
Prediction Score: Jaguars 31, Redskins 17
