Poinsettia Bowl: San Diego State Taking On Navy
Poinsettia Bowl: San Diego State Taking On Navy
In the Poinsettia Bowl story lines abound.
The flooded stadium is probably the biggest story coming into this game. After a ton of rain flooded Qualcomm Stadium, crews worked around the clock for the past 24 hours to empty the stadium of the 1.5 million gallons of water that was on the turf yesterday.
The latest on the turf is that it is in great shape. Surprisingly, the field isn’t nearly as soggy as many expected it to be and it will not be a determining factor in the game.
If Navy were to win tonight against San Diego State, the Midshipmen would win 10 games in back-to-back seasons for the first time in the long, storied history of the school.
Meanwhile, SDSU has had a remarkable turn around under head coach Brady Hoke. The Aztecs are in a bowl game for the first time since 1998 and if they win, it would be their first since 1969 in the Pasadena Bowl.
History will be made tonight, one way or another.
