Terrelle Pryor: Was QB Really Trying to Help His Family?
Terrelle Pryor was selling these goods in order to help his family. At least, that's what is being reported as the rationale for everyone's actions. Athletic director Gene Smith was sympathetic to the Buckeyes' actions, saying that they committed the actions "with the right intent, to help their families."
As an Ohioan myself, I'm sympathetic to the economic crunch. Things are not getting better, and for collegiate athletes, they know that a college and NFL legacy could be the one thing that helps their families. Yes, the NCAA is very strict on things such as this, we've seen that plenty of times. The issues these players face are not ones I would expect the powers that be, who are probably fairly well off, to understand.
