Ohio State Football Suspension: Should players like Terrelle Pryor be paid?
Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith said the NCAA really needs to re-examine the idea of stipends for athletes, especially with the new, bigger TV contract for the NCAA basketball tournament that brings in billions.
Smith said economic times prevent players from doing such things as put gas in their car or taking a girl out on a date.
That seems a little disingenuous when some of the players were purchasing, at least in part, tattoos. But Smith does have a valid point.
Smith stressed that the tattoo parlor owner is NOT an Ohio State alum or a booster, which certainly is good news when it comes to NCAA violations.
