Tom Brady Done for Season; New England Patriots to Work Out Simms

Jeffrey MannCorrespondent ISeptember 7, 2008

Many reports out of the New England Patriots' camp have relayed the information that Tom Brady is likely done for the season with a possible torn ACL. While these reports are still unconfirmed, the Patriots have contacted Chris Simms to bring him in for a workout tomorrow.

Now, thin as the Patriots may be at backup quarterback, they would not be bringing in Simms if the injury to Brady was minor. This could spell a troubling season for the Patriots, as many had penciled them in as Super Bowl favorites.

Chris Simms was a starter for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for much of the 2005 and 2006 seasons before his spleen ruptured as he dove for an end zone pylon. In 2005, Simms posted a 61 percent completion rate and a QB rating of 81.4.
