NFL Week 16 picks are here and we're taking a look at the first game on the schedule between Carolina and Pittsburgh.
It's not exactly projected to be the greatest game on this week's schedule, but with Troy Polamalu possibly missing another game with an injury, it could give Jimmy Clausen the chance to fight for his job as the Panthers are projected to win the Andrew Luck sweepstakes.
The Steelers are coming off of a tough loss to the New York Jets and I think Ben Roethlisberger and company are going to rebound and beat up on an extremely bad Carolina team that has struggled all year long.
Look for Pittsburgh to put this one out of reach early and never look back. There are going to be plenty of opportunities for the Steelers to get the big play and I think that Carolina is going to just be overmatched in every sense of the word in this game. Sadly, this is a national spotlight game.
Prediction: Pittsburgh 38, Carolina 13

Maya Moore and the UConn Huskies dominated Florida State last night and pushed their winning streak all the way to 89 games, passing John Wooden's UCLA Bruins for the longest winning streak in the history of college basketball.
After the game, head coach Geno Auriemma received a pretty important phone call from President Barack Obama while he was talking to the media.
"Hello? Yes. No, you're not interrupting anything," Auriemma said in front of the media. "You're taking—you know, if I was calling you and you had all those reporters in front of you, you'd be dying to take my phone call, right?"
Auriemma and Obama continued to talk and he went on to thank the president for his knowledge of the game.
"Well, Mr. President, I really appreciate that. It's an incredible thing that these kids have done and we owe you a little bit of gratitude," Auriemma said. "That lesson you gave on the White House basketball court really paid off. So, I appreciate you doing that for them."
It was a funny moment and something that makes sports a little more fun.
Noureen DeWulf is an actress and also happens to be the girlfriend of Buffalo Sabres goalie Ryan Miller.
Miller finally popped the question recently and the pair are now engaged to be married. It's been quite the year or so for Miller as he has become a top goalie in the NHL and had a stellar Olympic run, helping carry the American team all the way to the gold medal game where he played great but came up short in overtime against Canada.
Miller was an American hero after his performance in the Olympics, and what better way to cap off a year than by getting engaged to an attractive actress? It seems like hockey players seem to get the most attractive women to date them, and I can't figure it out for the life of me.
Either way, you can't hate the player; congrats to him and you have to wish them all of the best.

Deadspin is one of the more popular sports blogs on the internet and they've become increasingly more famous for some of the reports that have been posted on their site.
The first major one was photos of Texas Rangers star Josh Hamilton partying at a bar after he had gone sober after his battles with alcohol and drugs. That caused a firestorm online, but this year has been a pretty good year for the blog as they started the whole Brett Favre scandal with voicemails and alleged picture messages that he sent to former Jets employee Jenn Sterger when the two were working for the team a couple of years ago.
Now Deadspin is back at it again with alleged videos of Rex Ryan's wife Michelle doing foot fetish material and posting it online. There is some question to if it's actually her but one of the people in the videos sounds a lot like Rex, and some of the profile information matches up.
It will be interesting to see where the blog goes with this.
Erik Kuselias is leaving ESPN to join the Golf Channel and there's a lot of speculation that it has to do with some inappropriate behavior behind the scenes at the Worldwide Leader.
Kuselias has been reported as being too forward with other female employees and saying inappropriate things and being warned multiple times for his behavior in the workplace. Deadspin reported that he was married at the time of doing this but isn't anymore because his wife hired someone to look into him and found out that he was having a relationship with a co-worker, allegedly Stephania Bell.
Now Kuselias is going to the Golf Channel, and the move comes at a time when there's a book floating around that will detail all of the behind-the-scenes stuff that goes on at ESPN. I'm sure that won't go over well, and there have been whispers that he wasn't brought back because of his actions.
Either way, who knew things were so juicy at ESPN?

Michelle Ryan is the wife of New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan and is possibly the latest person to help give the Jets a black eye this year.
Ryan is the subject of a story by Deadspin in which they speculate on if she could be the former YouTube sensation that was putting foot fetish videos on the internet, which can be seen here. The profile of the person in question has a lot of similarities to Ryan, and while there are some inconsistencies, there is a lot there to make you wonder if it could possibly be the couple.
It doesn't hurt that in one of the videos, the person working the camera sounds an awful lot like the coach who is known for running his mouth to the media. It's almost too bizarre to be believed, but as we've seen in sports, anything is possible when you're talking about the private lives of athletes and coaches.
If it is true, I wonder what the reaction will be and what Rex Ryan will have to say when inevitably asked by the media about it. I think this is just getting started and it could be a wild ride.

Rex Ryan is in the news and it's not for anything he's done on the football field.
Deadspin is back at it again, and now it's because they believe they have video that may be Ryan's wife Michelle in foot fetish videos under the username "ihaveprettyfeet." The person in question looks a lot like Ryan's wife and in one video, there is speculation that it might be Rex behind the camera filming his wife, which you can see here.
If it's true, it's just another public relations disaster in a year that has been full of them for the Jets. First there was the Ines Sainz controversy where the team was accused of harassing the attractive reporter while she was at practice. That was followed by the Brett Favre and Jenn Sterger saga when the two were working for the Jets, and the latest was the Sal Alosi tripping incident.
There has been no comment from Ryan or the Jets yet but I'm sure someone in the New York media will find the bravery to ask him about it.
Who knows what his response will be?

Shaquille O'Neal is hoping to be the missing piece for the Boston Celtics as they try to get back to the NBA Finals for the third time in four years, but he took some time out to pursue a possible career path after he gets done with basketball.
Shaq was the guest conductor for the Boston Pops the other night and was clearly an imposing presence on the stage—and he got quite the workout from working with the group.
"I have a whole new respect for conductors," O'Neal said to the media. "I went through a rehearsal today, and my arms are shot right now."
That could be a statement on Shaq's conditioning, but this is one of the reasons people love Shaq. He's such an enjoyable person and is always having fun and makes things more enjoyable, especially if he's on your team.
I'm sure this won't be the last time that Shaq makes us all laugh.

Floyd Mayweather has been the dream opponent for Manny Pacquiao for sometime now but don't expect to see Pretty Boy Floyd in the ring with him any time soon, as Pacquiao and Shane Mosley have come to an agreement to fight in May.
Mosley lost to Mayweather and is an aging fighter, so it's nowhere close to the challenge that Mayweather could give Pacquiao. However, Mosley has all the confidence in the world that he can beat the champion fighter.
"I hurt Floyd in our fight, but he's a great fighter and has great defense," Mosley said to the media. "What can I do about Mora? Do you really think that was a draw? Come on. I won that fight. He ran from me all night. But Pacquiao? Come on, man. I'm a bigger guy than him and he gets hit. And you saw how I hurt Floyd. Manny is going to come forward and I will hit him on the chin at some point. His defense is not like Floyd's. Manny will come at me, and I will knock him out."
I'm not so sure about that, but only time can tell and I'm sure plenty of people will tune into the fight.

WWE is still big around the world, even if it isn't nearly as popular as when superstars like Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock and Shawn Michaels ruled the world, but one of the major superstars of that era is still around and hasn't been seen for some time.
Triple H has been out with an assortment of injuries for some time now and his comeback has been speculated for a while. There is no real timetable for him to return, but according to a report on F4WOnline.com, Triple H will be taking a more involved role at TV tapings in the next couple of weeks.
It's not shocking that he's got his hands in the behind-the-scenes stuff, but what is shocking is how well it's gone when he's been in charge. It's been reported to have been a much less stressful working atmosphere then when Vince McMahon is running things, especially for the announcing team, which doesn't have to deal with Vince screaming in their ear all night long.
While he's a perfect fit for that kind of work, I think we can all safely say that we want to see Triple H back in the ring sooner rather than later.

Los Angeles Lakers were on the receiving end of a beatdown last night as the Milwaukee Bucks beat the defending champions 93-79 in a game that saw Kobe Bryant get ejected in the fourth quarter after two technical fouls.
"I told them I don't think they can play any worse than that," Lakers coach Phil Jackson said to the media. "This is what we were worried about. We got out of whack there in the second half and never recovered."
Earl Boykins dropped 22 points playing for the injured Brandon Jennings, who just had surgery. The Lakers kept it relatively close through three quarters but things got out of hand in the fourth and the Bucks cruised to a victory.
The letdown had nothing to do with the fact that Los Angeles plays the Miami Heat in a couple of days.
"I guess you could say there's a possibility [of looking ahead], but I don't think so," Derek Fisher said to the media. "Even in looking past someone, that requires an action on your part. So I don't think it was so much about the opponent. I just think we didn't play the type of game that we needed to play. I guess things would have been different if the opponent was different, but I can't say that."

Phil Jackson and the Los Angeles Lakers will take on LeBron James and the Miami Heat on Christmas Day as part of a day-long lineup of games on ESPN and ABC, and Jackson is none too happy about it.
The Lakers are a fixture on Christmas, and now there are five games slated for that day—but Jackson feels that nobody should be playing on that day.
"I don't think anybody should play on Christmas Day," Jackson said to the media. "Soccer teams don't play this time of year, they take a break. I don't understand it. When I was in the CBA, we had a commissioner who had a Christmas Eve game. I had to call him up and say that's the holy time....You just have to keep reminding them that this is a special day."
I mean, he has a point and at the same time, he doesn't. The players have families and all of that and being apart from them on Christmas is a bummer, but they're athletes and sports are big around the holidays and it comes with the territory.
Let's just get that Lakers and Heat game going already.

LeBron James had an awful game and was a big part of the reason the Heat had their winning streak snapped by the Dallas Mavericks two nights ago.
Israel Gutierrez wrote about how James killed the Heat in the game. Miami was minus-20 when LeBron was on the floor and he settled for outside shots instead of attacking the basket, something that is LeBron's strength as a player.
"You just knew that his relying on the outside shot was going to come back and bite the Heat," Gutierrez wrote. "And that happened Monday."
Miami settled for outside shots all night, but LeBron was held scoreless in the first half and for a good part of the second before turning it on and getting some points on the board. LeBron is bigger than most of the guys at his position and he needs to assert himself going forward. He's not a good jumpshooter and he should realize that.

Carmelo Anthony has been the center of trade talks all season long and it had seemed like he only wanted to go to the Knicks one way or another.
However, it seems like New Jersey is becoming a more likely destination as trade talks are heating up. It has been reported that Anthony would be willing to go to New Jersey if enough talent was brought over with him to make the Nets a contender.
Players like Al Harrington have been talked about and there have been whispers about Devin Harris moving to get more back for Anthony.
"You can't really worry about it until you get to the serious talks," Harris said to the media. "Right now, it's all just speculation. And we can't lose sleep over speculation. When the time comes, I'm pretty sure that conversation will be had."
Anthony has said he would sign the extension to whatever team trades for him, so if he goes to New Jersey, it would be another huge blow to the Knicks and their fans, who were hoping for Anthony coming over to New York in the next year.

Kyle Brotzman is the kicker for Boise State who missed two field goals as the Broncos lost to Nevada, killing their national championship chances.
He had been a reliable kicker up to that point but that kick lost more than the national championship hopes for Boise State.
Had the Broncos reached a BCS bowl game, as was expected, Boise State would have made $3 million while the rest of the WAC would have gotten a $5 million share. Not only that, but Chris Peterson, Boise State's head coach, would have gotten a significant bonus for reaching a BCS bowl game. The team and the community have rallied around Brotzman, but reading that in the paper couldn't have made him a very happy camper.
However, if the game comes down to his leg, I think this time around, Brotzman nails the kick and gives the Broncos the win in a story that would make a lot of people around the country smile.
