UConn Women's Basketball: Huskies Set New NCAA Record with 89th Consecutive Win
UConn Women's Basketball defeated No. 20 Florida State by 31 points today on their home court. The Lady Huskies' 89th consecutive victory sets a new NCAA record for most consecutive victories in any sport, passing John Wooden's UCLA 1971-74 mens team.
George Wooden, John Wooden's grandson, said his grandfather would be thrilled if he was here to see it today.
"My grandfather would be thrilled," said Greg Wooden, grandson of the legendary UCLA men's coach. "He would be thrilled that his record was bring broken by a women's basketball team. Over the last 10 years or so of his life, he always felt the best basketball being played at the collegiate level and it was not by the men."
