I am not a West Ham fan. In fact, I don't really support anyone in the Premier League, but if I did, it would be this team. Sadly though, they aren't having the best of seasons, currently sitting rock bottom of the division with a manager who doesn't really know what he is doing, and three key players who will be looking for a quick escape when the January transfer window comes around.

Let's have a look at the facts (those who support West Ham may want to look away now). With 13 points from a possible 54 so far this season, they have won only twice and haven't won in the last three matches. Only one team in Premier League history—West Bromwich Albion—have survived with fewer points than the 13 that Avram Grant's West Ham will have on Christmas Day.

One crumb of hope they can take is the players which they have. Scott Parker, Matthew Upson and Rob Green are three players who are most certainly of Premier League-class.

Parker has pretty much single-handedly carried West Ham throughout their games this season and I am baffled as to why he has been overlooked by England chief Fabio Capello. This trio simply have to be kept in January. If Parker in particular leaves, then consider their season over.

Rumours have been spreading that boss Avram Grant has to win at least one of the Hammers' next two games if he wants to stay in charge of the club. And while I want West Ham to win as many games as possible, I don't believe that he is the right man for the job, especially when you have managers like ex-Blackburn boss Sam Alladyce and former Newcastle manager Chris Hughton all available.

Do you think West Ham will survive relegation?

Yesterday's match when West Ham travelled to Ewood Park to face Blackburn, despite the conditions, was a terrible game of football. It ended 1-1, but importantly, West Ham could and arguably should have won the game. They created chances and importantly they didn't lose.

They have shown what they can do by beating Manchester United 4-0 in the Carling Cup late last month in what was a much needed confidence booster. However, they need to keep that sort of performance up for the rest of the season.

Looking at their next few matches, they have fellow strugglers Fulham, Everton, Wolves and Newcastle all coming up. They are games which they have to be able to win if they want to stay in the top-flight. A bad streak would be disastrous.

Can they stay up? Currently, I would say no, but we will sure have a much clearer picture on Jan. 5, once the fixtures listed above have been completed.
