With two weeks left in the 2010 sports year, there has been no shortage of headline-making events that have not only rocked the sports world but have also had a profound effect on those involved.
Incidents ranging from the high-profile divorce of Tiger Woods to the imminent divorce of San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker and Desperate Housewives actress Eva Longoria made for interesting plot lines. 2010 even saw the longtime marriage of Minnesota Vikings QB Brett Favre and wife Deanna rocked by allegations of sexual harassment brought on by New York Jets sideline reporter Jenn Sterger.
2010 may be both the most bizarre and drama-filled year on and off the field in recent memory.
This slide show will feature the top 20 most beautiful and controversial women of 2010, and they come from all walks of life such as sideline reporters, actresses, beauty pageant contestants, serial WAGs and even female athletes themselves.
Now let's take a look at the Top 20 Most Controversial Women in Sports for 2010.
20. U.S. Olympic Snowboarder Hannah Teter
The last woman featured in this slideshow, U.S. snowboarder Hannah Teter proved that the best way to shut up the media is to not only pose in a men's magazine, but also empower women everywhere by showing off her assets.
Backstory: Teter may have said it best when responding to the media backlash over the Sports Illustrated photos with herself, Lindsay Vonn, Clair Bidez and skier Lacy Schnoor.
Teter stated, "I don't believe in the criminalization of bodies and women having to be ashamed of their bodies. That's just so wrong."
Body of Work: Teter would go on to further silence the critics by winning a silver medal in the 2010 Winter Olympics half-pipe event in snowboarding for the United States as red-blooded men all around the world would loudly rejoice.

Conclusion: Crazy, Sexy, Beautiful and Talked-About, These Women Ruled 2010
These 20 women helped shape and influence the sporting world in 2010, whether it was from accusing a NFL legend of inappropriate text messages or having a couple of superstar husband athletes commit infidelity in high-profile relationships.
2010 may have emerged as the Year of the Woman in Sports.
New areas are now being explored in protecting against stalking and corporations will now keep a keen eye on text messaging between colleagues and monitoring the treatment of sideline reporters inside of locker rooms.
Mistresses will always lurk in the shadows to prey on vulnerable and lonely athletes in hopes of making a name for themselves, and while there were also fashion malfunctions, sex tapes and random meltdowns, this year was truly special.
There was a football-playing Romeo who may have finally found his true love and a Bengal who may have found his perfect senorita.
2010 was anything but short on drama and media backlash for exposing one's own body. There was also the discovery of someone special who was simply born into the sport because of the surname of her respective families.
2010 was definitely the Year of the Woman in Sports and may 2011 be even more promising and exciting.
