I previously reported on NASCAR impounding eight engines from all four manufactures after the Bristol race.
NASCAR announced that they have changed the engine rule in regards to the spacer size used on the Craftsman Truck Series Engine. They did the same thing in the Nationwide Series in July.
While they never mentioned Toyota Tundra by name, it is the only manufacturer affected by the rules change.
Here's the change they made: Engines with cylinder bore spacing of less than 4.47 inches must use a tapered spacer with four 1.125-inch diameter holes, which restricts engine air flow. (scenedaily.com)
All other engines must use a tapered spacer with four 1.1-inch diameter holes, which restricts engine air flow. (scenedaily.com)
This change most likely will only affect the Toyota Tundra trucks by 15 to 20 horsepower and be similar to what happened in the Nationwide Series.
It will be interesting to see if a Toyota team can dominate the Gateway race Saturday afternoon, similar to what Kyle Busch did in the Nationwide series at the first race after the change was made. Busch would lead 197 of 200 laps of the Kroger 200 at O'Reilly Raceway Park.

NASCAR has worked a long time trying to make the engines equal, and they had a tough time keeping it close because every time they would let someone catchup, the ingrate would blow right past the one ahead of him. But the difference wasn't so large it smacked anybody in the face. It just kept the argument going about which make was the best. Apparently, NASCAR really screwed up with the Toys. And why is that a problem? The truck series is now in a nose dive with little hope for pulling out of it. The number one reason is that Toyota engine.
Maybe they could do it like the IRL; just have one supplier for all the engines. Yeah, that'll work.
