Pittsburgh Steelers Set to Contend for Title

Vincent RobletoCorrespondent ISeptember 5, 2008

After watching Eli and the Giants step to the line of scrimmage against Washington, I felt a great sense of anticipation to see what my Steelers will do this season.   With a healthy Willie Parker returning, the Steelers are again a serious contender.

Little Eli’s success is symbolic of the character of the NFL right now. It’s wide-open for any team to step up and knock off the unbeatable.  It’s not just Peyton and Brady who have won Championships.  Roethlisberger and Eli have too.

As a veteran of a few hits in the NFL and one across the hood of a car, Roethlisberger seems focused: “You have been amped up during training camp and the offseason. It counts now. It matters."

Thursdays match-up pitted two Moss brothers playing on opposite sides of the ball and two Manning brothers playing on opposite sides of the commercial break.  It was good to see two ex-Steeler wideouts with starting positions in the NFL.  The Steelers are still strong in receivers with Hines Ward and Santonio Holmes, both set for high levels of productivity.

In any event, Julie Bologna is back in Pittsburgh, and the Steelers are about to start their second season under Mike Tomlin. Let’s go Steelers.
