And That's How The Cookie Crumbles: King Kev Departs, The Toon Are Served Right

It's official, Kevin Keegan has resigned and rightly so!

The buffoons on Tyneside, Mike Ashley and Executive Director Dennis Wise, treated him horribly and I completely understand Keegan's decision to step out.

"I have been working desperately hard to find a way forward with the directors, but sadly that has not proved possible," Keegan said.

"I have been left with no choice other than to leave."

Keegan parted ways with the Magpies after only eight months of his incredible return to St.James Park, during which time he ensured Newcastle easily avoided relegation at the back end of last season.

It is believed that the board interfered in the club's transfer activity, and Keegan didn't have any decision to make—which is why he called time on his tenure.

Keegan saw James Milner leave for Aston Villa because he was not offered a better contract, and he only just managed to keep Michael Owen at the club.

Xisco and Ignacio Gonzales, the deadline day arrivals, were not believed to be on Keegan's wish list.

David O'Leary and Everton's David Moyes have been mentioned as possible replacements for Keegan, so too has Real Zaragoza's Marcelino Garcia Toral.

However, the list is bound to grow by the hour in the aftermath of another St James' debacle.
