Flames-Canucks: A New Look on New Year's Eve

Just when I was getting accustomed to the Battle of Alberta to end the calendar year, they switch it up on me.

For the first time in three years, the New Year's Eve game will be the Calgary Flames vs. the Vancouver Canucks.

The past two NHL campaigns have featured the Flames hosting the Edmonton Oilers on December 31st, with the Flames winning both games.

Vancouver has dominated the season series thus far. Roberto Luongo, who's starting to show his form of last year, has posted a 3-0 record against the Flames with a 1.95 GAA.

The teams will meet at GM Place in Vancouver on December 27th before the New Year's Eve clash.

Notes: The Flames and Canucks both see the Anaheim Ducks in the midst of their home-and-home series...The Flames have hosted a game on New Year's Eve for the past six seasons, going 3-1-2.
