College Football Awards: Patrick Peterson Wins Bednarik Award
College Football Awards were handed out to LSU's Patrick Peterson, who won both the Bednarik and Thorpe Awards Thursday night.
Widely regarded as the best cornerback in the country, Peterson has held his own against some of the best wide receivers in College Football during his days in Baton Rouge.
The 6-1 junior totaled 36 tackles and four interceptions for the Tigers this season.
He joined some historic company during the Home Depot Awards show, becoming the first defensive back to win the Bednarik since Michigan's Charles Woodson in 1997.
Clemson's Da'Quan Bowers and Auburn's Nick Fairley were this year's other two finalists for the Bednarik.
If he decides to forgo his senior season, Peterson will be expected to be selected in the top 10 of the NFL Draft.
In addition to having outstanding coverage skills, he has also showcased incredible explosiveness as a kick returner.
