Breaking news today brought bad news to the Gator faithful. At an end to a detrimental, disappointment of a season, Urban Meyer has decided to step down.
Hard to believe that just two years ago, the Gators were the top of the top. Things can change in college football in the blink of an eye.
Setting the stage for this season can be traced back all the way to last year's SEC Championship Game when the Gators were pummeled by the soon to be National Champs. Following the loss came Meyer's first announcement of retirement.
Fast forwarding to the start of this season, Meyer still head coach, first play of the season, without Tim Tebow. John Brantley is forced to chase a wild snap from center Mike Pouncey.
An appropriate first play for the Gators this season.
Now a few suspensions and 5 losses later, Florida wrapped up its worst season since Urban Meyer was hired. They also suffered their first lost to Florida State in 6 seasons.
Whether it be health reasons, behind the scenes reasons, or just a broken heart from losing the Golden Boy, Urban Meyer is currently planning to leave the Florida Gators for the second time.
Let's hope that Meyer isn't taking any advice from Brett Favre on retiring.
