First there was the news yesterday that King Kev may or may not be leaving Newcastle United. That one is still unresolved.

Then the news breaks today that Alan Curbishley has resigned as manager of West Ham, the club have confirmed.

Curbishley had been under heavy pressure from fans, but he has guided West Ham to their best start in nine years with two wins and they sit one point behind leaders Chelsea.

Curbishley was reported to be unhappy with the sale of full-back George McCartney to Sunderland on transfer deadline day, having been assured no other players would be leaving Upton Park after Anton Ferdinand’s prior departure to the Stadium of Light.

No word yet on who will replace Curbishley.
