The Chicago White Sox have acquired first baseman Adam Dunn but are still hoping to keep Paul Konerko.
White Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf will do whatever he can to retain Konerko, and will be with other representatives today when they meet with his agent Craig Landis, according to Doug Padilla of ESPNChicago.com.
Padilla reports that Dunn, along with A.J. Pierzynski, have deferred money to help Chicago have a better chance at Konerko returning.
"I'm to a point now where I'm on a team that has a chance to win a World Series and I'll do whatever they want me to do," Dunn told USA Today. "I told (GM) Kenny (Williams) the other day that I would catch, but I see they signed A.J. …
"I would love for Paul to return, I know he's a great player and one of, if not the leader, of this team."
Konerko has spent 12 years with the team, and has no problem returning but could also go elsewhere. Baltimore and Texas have expressed interest.
