Let's be serious. This game is a test. Can Aaron Rodgers step into the shoes of a legend and perform well? Of course this one game will not make that decision, but it will most certainly do one of two things.
It will either give Rodgers the confidence he needs to ultimately be successful this season, or it will do the opposite.
I'm not saying that if he has a bad game on Monday night, he'll have a horrible season. There's no reason to believe that he can't pick himself up and bounce back with some great games. But, with all of the drama caused by the Brett Favre situation and after telling his fans to "shut up," I think he needs to come out and prove to everyone what he can do as quickly as possible. It will be a long, grueling season if he doesn't.
Believe it or not, there are other important components to this game.
One of those components is a name you might recall from last season: second year sensation Adrian Peterson. This guy turned some heads last year and already has people referring to him as one of the greatest backs of all time. I'll be the first to tell you that this is an extremely silly assessment, but it's been put out there nonetheless.
Peterson had 20 rushing attempts for just 51 yards during the preseason, but I'd be willing to bet he'll eclipse that mark by the end of the third quarter on Monday night.
One other question that may decide the fate of this game is Tavaris Jackson's knee. Jackson sat out the last two games of the preseason after spraining his knee, but expects to start in Green Bay. If he goes down, Gus Ferrotte would have to step in and I'm not so sure the Vikings would still be mentioned in the same sentence as "Super Bowl" any longer if that were to happen.
