Randy Couture: Does He Really Stand a Chance?

Couture told the press that he would be coming into the fight at around the 225-pound mark on Nov. 15.

If you've seen Lesnar fight in the past, you know he has to cut to get to the 265-pound weight limit. By the day of the fight, he will likely be around 280, making for a 55-pound advantage for the behemoth.

If you need a comparison, then that is like a 150-pound LW going up against a 205-pound LHW. Granted, there are some LWs that can probably school some LHWs, but when you factor in all of the other things that Randy has stacked against him (age, one-year lay off, etc.), it's really pushing it to think he can pull this one out.

Now Randy has already beaten someone of that size in a man we call Tim Sylvia. But face it, Sylvia is no Lesnar. I already threw money down on him though. I've bet against him in the past and regretted it.

If all else fails, Mir or Nog will catch Lesnar in a toe hold in his next fight at around 27 seconds into the first round.

Keep the hope alive, people, keep it alive.

  1. Hopefully Randy will be the giant killer and won't get under him when the giant falls.

  2. If anyone can do it. Randy can.

I'm taking Randy by unan decision.

  3. I wonder how Lesnar will do if they go 5 rounds??

  4. I don't think he'd gas b/c of his pro wrestling days, but he won't be the same Brock that we see in the first 5 mins at all.

    1. I don't think Pro Wrestling has much to do with it... just that he's a hard worker and has that wrestling attititude of getting in great shape. Training with guys like Sean Sherk to set an example for you isn't half bad either. ;)

  5. "If you need a comparison, then that is like a 150-pound LW going up against a 205-pound LHW."

    I don't think it's that good of a comparison. 280 to 225 is about a 14 to 11 ratio. 205 to 150 is about a 4 to 3 ratio. I'm just being picky though.

  6. Let's just sat BJ Penn vs. James Irvin. I'll take BJ in that fight any day.

  7. UFC 91 shaping up to be an amazing card!!
