The end of an era begins tonight in Cowboys Stadium. Tonight, the final Big 12 Championship will be contested between the North Division champion Nebraska Cornhuskers and the South Division champion Oklahoma Sooners. The winner will earn the conference's automatic BCS berth and will play in the Fiesta Bowl on January 1, 2011.

It is truly fitting that the conference will end with the final conference meeting between Nebraska and Oklahoma, a series that helped define college football in the 1970's and 1980's. The Sooners will be looking to avenge their 10-3 loss in Lincoln last year, while Nebraska will be looking to avenge their loss in the 2006 Big 12 Championship game.

Of course, there is the underlying soap opera of Nebraska's contentious departure from the conference, and the belief by some Nebraska fans that there is a conspiracy on behalf of the conference to ensure the 'Huskers do not win the final conference title.

As a service to you, the reader, I will keep an eye on the Conspiracy Meter during the game. If there looks to be evidence of skullduggery, I will alert you by raising the Conspiracy Meter from green, to yellow, to orange, and to red if need be.

So, sit back and enjoy your nostalgia, your drama, and your football all wrapped into one!
