Cotton Bowl 2011: Texas A&M Aggies vs. LSU Tigers
Cotton Bowl 2011 has one no-doubt, confirmed participant, as the Texas A&M Aggies accepted their invitation to the long-standing bowl game earlier this week.
All signs also point to the SEC team slated to participate in this bowl game being the LSU Tigers, as they're expected to miss out on an at-large invitation to a BCS bowl, which will most likely go to the Arkansas Razorbacks.
The Cotton Bowl is set to take place on January 7, 2011, in Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, the house of Jerry Jones. This will mark the first time the game is played away from the actual Cotton Bowl Stadium in Dallas, a posh upgrade of venues that will be sure to benefit from the Aggies participating and facing off against a big SEC power.
I have to like LSU's chances in this game, as they had an inside shot at a BCS bowl for much of the year and won some heart-stopping games by the skin of their teeth, showing a fortitude that will help them greatly in what should be one of the more entertaining bowls of the season.
A&M has won some big games of their own in the BIg 12, but I see LSU coming out on top in this one, by a pretty slim margin. This pairing seems almost set in stone, and hopefully the game delivers on its potential and is entertaining.
