Outback Bowl 2011: Florida Gators vs. Penn State Nittany Lions
Outback Bowl 2011 is expected to certainly feature the Penn State Nittany Lions, as they've been linked to the bowl since completing their 7-5 regular season with a loss to Michigan State,\ and have a three-appearance history with the bowl.
However, things changed recently regarding the SEC team expected to oppose Joe Paterno's team, as it's now projected that the Florida Gators will play in the Outback Bowl in Tampa, Florida.
The Outback Bowl is scheduled for January 1st and will be played in Raymond James Stadium, home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the NFL. The big pirate ship should be host to two nationally-prominent programs, should the Florida/Penn State pairing become a reality on selection Sunday.
Florida struggled in its first post-Tim Tebow year, and Urban Meyer's crew will be looking to salvage a mixed season in the SEC with a nice bowl win. Joe Paterno's Nittany Lions are in a similar position, and they have the advantage of having won every Outback Bowl appearance they've made in the past.
If this game comes together, I think Florida will end up pulling out the win. They'll have more fans in the building, and I think Meyer will get the Gators fired up to end the year on a high note.
