When the season began, it was a forgone conclusion that the Alabama Crimson Tide would defend it's SEC and BCS title with ease.  The Auburn Tigers were at best the fourth selection to represent the SEC Western Division behind the Tide, Arkansas, and LSU.

In the SEC Eastern Division, the Florida Gators were the team to beat, and some thought that perhaps the South Carolina Gamecocks could give the Gators some challenge.  The Georgia Bulldogs, coming off a disappointing 2009 season, were thought of a possibility, too.

So much for the experts' predictions.

Today, the Auburn Tigers will face the South Carolina Gamecocks in Atlanta for the 2010 SEC Championship.

Everyone is talking about Auburn's quarterback Cam Newton, the former Florida Gator heir apparent to Tim Tebow that is a shoe-in for this year's Heisman Trophy.  The only question that remains is can he lead the Tigers past the Gamecocks one more time so they can face either the Oregon Ducks or TCU Horned Frogs in Glendale in January.

Don't forget about the power and legend of the OBC, head coach Steve Spurrier of South Carolina.  He is known for this passing attack offense, but this year he has a weapon on the ground—freshman Marcus Lattimore.
