George Karl shows a lot of confidence in his team, and apparently the Denver Nuggets love what he brings as head coach.
The Nuggets and Karl have reportedly been discussing a contract extension, as Karl is in the final year of his current contract.
Head coach George Karl is excited about what the future holds, telling The Associated Press, "I have the passion and energy to try to keep this Broadway show going. The further you get into the season, the contract situation is going to be discussed. Hopefully we can keep winning and keep that off the discussion plate. My concern the last six months has been on me and my health and it still is. I knew if I could get healthy and stay healthy I could coach a few more years and that's probably what I want to do. I'd love it to be in Denver and I'm hoping this will work out quickly."
Karl has 998 wins throughout his 23-year career, and is currently in his seventh season as head coach for the Denver Nuggets.
Karl has led the Nuggets to the playoffs every year since he first joined the team, reaching the postseason in 19 out of 22 total seasons as an NBA head coach. As the head coach of the Denver Nuggets, George Karl has earned an extremely impressive record of 278-172.
The Pennsylvania native is very enthusiastic about this Denver Nuggets squad of the 2010-11 NBA season. "I like where the team is; it has a chance to be the best team I've ever had here. I've always felt that way. I was always amazed about the doomsday that people had us at the beginning of the year. In January we were one of the top two teams in the NBA. "
Is it a good idea to extend George Karl's contract?
With the success that George Karl and the Nuggets have had in a tough Western Conference over the years, everything points to an obvious extension agreement. The Denver players enjoy suiting up for their head coach, and Karl loves to lead them, along with this city.
"I love Denver. It's my type of city. For good or bad, a lot of people like me. The weather is incredibly good, Colorado's maybe the prettiest state in the union. It's a great city and I probably plan on living here with or without a contract for the rest of my life."
Denver has said that both sides expect a deal to be completed within the next few months.
