NFL, Baltimore Ravens, Joey Harrington, Breaking News

There has been speculation that the Ravens are going to go out and sign Joey Harrington. Actually, there was a report the last couple of days that both sides had reached an agreement.

Then it was that he was one of three quarterbacks the Ravens were looking at to be the backup for their first game, after Troy Smith had a problem with his tonsils, and Kyle Boller is seriously considering shoulder surgery after being diagnosed with a partially torn labrum.

PLEASE do NOT bring Joey Harrington back to the NFL; he is no good and will not do any more than just fill a jersey and probably earn the league minimum. Granted, even if he was signed, Flacco will still get the start, and Harrington is only insurance.

Let's be serious. That would be like getting flood insurance when you know a Tsunami is coming. It will do no good. Why not go give some college free-agent a try—not Joey Harrington.

I know Joey is a veteran, but he is only a veteran because the Falcons and Dolphins became so desperate for a QB. Joey Harrington is no starting or backup QB in the NFL. He has only thrown an above 60-percent pass-completion rate once in a six year career.

Only once has he thrown more touchdowns than picks, and twice has he not averaged an interception per game he started. Ladies and gentleman, if he is on the field at any point for your team, your team isn't going anywhere but down.

I don't care how desperate the Ravens may be for a backup QB; even if Harrington doesn't play, all he will do is preach to the "QB of the future" for the Raves how to throw a strike to the other team and how to take a sack.

Geez, and they already have Kyle Boller there. THERE IS A REASON HE IS STILL A FREE AGENT AFTER FOUR WEEKS OF PRESEASON.

  1. SO, "He has only thrown an above 60-percent pass-completion rate once in a six year career."

Hey idiot... maybe check out Eli Manning's completion rate?? That same type of performance was good enough to win a Super Bowl -- Harrington has played for some very bad teams. It's still a team sport last I checked.

  2. Seriously. Drama much? Harrington ain't no superstar, but that is hardly news. He has a higher rating than a dozen starting QBs in the league and will certainly serve as a perfectly competent backup somewhere.

  3. hey for one joey has been a free agent for like 4 days not four weeks u idoit. If u r goin to say that someone is so bad then get all the stats right. Joey cant do much when his WR's drop 15 balls in one night what do u want him to do throw the ball to him self damn all the teams he has played for suck bad

  4. I totally agree with these comments. Joey is not a superstar, but look at his offensive lines, look at the dropped passes, look at the mismanagement around him. When he was benched by Petrino in Atlanta, his teammates backed him up and supported him for playing hard with the cards he was dealt. In Detroit and Miami, look at how much they improved after he left -- not much at all! Joey keeps plugging away, trying to stay positive. Couldn't one writer out there actually REWARD that? Do your homework and try to write something a bit more balanced next time. He's no great shakes but you make it sound like you or I could go out there and do better. I doubt it. Is he a big-time starter? NO. But is he a great backup? Probably so. Please improve your writing. I assume you are paid for this.

  5. Let's see the complaint is that the teams Joey played on to this point, the Detroit Lions, the Miami Dolphins and the Atlanta Falcons were at the bottom of the NFL before Joey played there, were at the bottom of the NFL when he played there, and are still at the bottom of the NFL after he's gone. So your argument, Kenny, is that Joey is a bad QB because he played on teams where the O-Line let him get sacked repeatedly and he couldn't throw or pass because he was flat on his back.

Did I get all of that right?

Maybe you ought to take a closer look at J.H., because he's one hell of a QB and will likely end up in the Football Hall of Fame, by the time his career is over.
