In a humiliating performance for Tommy Bowden and his Clemson Tigers, Bowden has proved once again no coach in America does less with more. Not since 2004 has he had a recruiting class ranked outside the top 25.
Months of hype and buildup evaporated with the combination of a comedy of Bowden coaching gaffes, and a highly motivated and supremely coached Alabama squad. I hope Bowden took notes, because Nick Saban put on a coaching clinic in terms of motivation and execution.
Starting with the ill-advised first hand-off to highly touted, but still a freshman Jamie Harper, that resulted in a fumble, Bowden's ineptness was on full display.
Catch the multiple replays of Clemson defenders running into each other, and getting blocked by one Bama player? How about the sideline arguing as more defenders were out of position? The one-two punch of CJ Spiller and James Davis getting a combined less than 10 rushes in the game? Once it was apparent that the Tide had an advantage at the LOS how putting in RB or an extra TE to block? Just too many coaching blunders to name them all...
This isn't the first time though Tommy's Tigers have blown a golden opportunity to get over the hump...
in 2006, Coming off a rare good big game performance against Georgia Tech, Tommy's Tigers laid an egg in getting thumped at Virginia Tech.
Next there was the 13-12 loss to Maryland as 19 points favorites with the ACC title on the line.
Last year, there's the loss to Boston College 20-17 with the another ACC title on the line, then a chance for a 10 win season is erased with a Chick -Fil- A bowl loss to Auburn...
Just add this Bama game to the long list of Clemson big game failures under Bowden...
