Pittsburgh Steelers Nation: If You Want Off the Bandwagon, Hop Off Now!

NEW ORLEANS - OCTOBER 31: Fans dressed as Troy Polamalu #43 of the Pittsburgh Steelers pump their fist during the game against the New Orleans Saints at Louisiana Superdome on October 31, 2010 in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Saints won 20-10 over the Steelers. (Photo by Karl Walter/Getty Images)

The Pittsburgh Steelers are unlike any other team in the NFL. We fill opposing stadiums, we have the Terrible Towel not only all over the world, but in outer space as well. When the Steelers are in a Super Bowl, it is like a home game, with a wave of yellow and black that overtake the stadium like a tidal wave.

And, suddenly, for some strange reason, Steelers Nation seems to be starting to doubt the ability of the Black and Gold.

As of the writing of this article, the stories on Bleacher Reports, Steelers page are as follows.

First off, I want to say that all of these writers I consider to be quality writers. I am not saying that they are not true Steelers fans. However, these articles are not the type of articles I would expect from card-carrying members of Steelers Nation.

What makes matters even worse is, in some of the comments, people seem to be saying that the Steelers season is as good as over, based on the fact that we are not destroying other teams.

Well, other than the Raiders.

For those of you that are new to being Steelers fans, allow me to educate you as to what to expect from the Steelers.

Don't expect many blow out victories. The Steelers play to the level of their competition. When they play great teams, they play great. When they play poor teams, they play WELL below average.

Every year, you can bet that the Steelers are going to lose to a team that we all know they should beat.

Every year, you can bet that the Steelers are going to beat a team that everyone thinks is going to defeat them.

As for how the 2010 season is going? Allow me to elaborate how this season has played out to this point.

Atlanta Falcons - They have only lost two games this season, and one of them is to the Ben Roethlisberger-less Steelers.

Tennessee Titans - Until they had their first two QBs go down to injury, were in terrific place to unseat the Colts in the AFC South.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers - 7-3, and one of the biggest surprise teams in the NFL.

Cleveland Browns - One of the surprise teams in the NFL.  Have defeated the Patriots and Saints.  They have also taken the Ravens and Jets to the limit. All four of those teams are either in first place in their respective division, or tied for it.

Miami Dolphins - Up and down team.

Cincinnati Bengals - Division rival. Refs allowed the game to be closer than it really was (as admitted to by the NFL).

Oakland Raiders - Riding a three-game winning streak, with the hopes of winning the division.

Buffalo Bills - Another team that is playing better than their record. Almost defeated the Patriots and Ravens on the road.

Baltimore Ravens - Even with the absence of Ben Roethlisberger, the Ravens could not pull the game out until the final minute of the game.

New Orleans Saints - Following a spanking at home to the Cleveland Browns, in prime-time, the Saints won on Halloween night.

New England Patriots - Same as with the Saints, played the Steelers after getting pounded by the Browns, and took it out on the Steelers.

From where I am sitting, the Steelers are 8-3, tied for first place in the AFC North, with a crucial game Sunday night against the Ravens.

Now, I am not for one single second saying that the Steelers are anywhere near perfect. In fact, they have a long way to go. However, I believe that the Steelers are in prime position to make the playoffs, and once they are there, they have a legitimate shot at Super Bowl No. 7.

For all of you that are leaving comments on other articles, saying how Pittsburgh is soft, and they are not playoff quality, and they are lucky to have the wins that they have, I have one thing to say to you. You don't understand the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In the wonderful world of the NFL, the Pittsburgh Steelers, right now, are sitting on top as the greatest team to play in the NFL. No other team has won as many Super Bowls as we have. And every time, the season has gone very similar to the way it is going this year.

It is bad enough when I have to watch the pregame talking heads, that think just because they have played football that they know everything about it. The way the Steelers are playing right now, is simply the way the Steelers play.

It seems that they are getting a lot more flags thrown on them, but that is because the NFL has decided that the Steelers are going to be the team that Roger Goodell is going to attack, to show the rest of the NFL that he means business. What do I say to Goodell? Bring it on.

Trying to bully the bully is not going to work.

There are actually two Steelers teams. There is the one that plays the regular season. That is the one that everyone is seeing right now.

Then there is the second one. We will call it the Mr. Hyde Steelers. They are the mean, nasty, beat you up, kick you in the teeth Steelers.

Once the playoffs start, the second season begins, and that is what this Steelers team is built for. If you want to see the real Steelers, don't worry, they are coming.

If you don't like it, feel free to hop right off the bandwagon now. The only thing is, once the Steelers win the Super Bowl this year, I better not see you on here talking about how you never doubted the Black and Gold.
