Leslie Nielsen Video: Watch Frank Drebin in Classic Naked Gun Bit
Leslie Nielsen, one of the most talented comedic actors of his generation, passed away at the age of 84 on Sunday night due to complications from pneumonia.
Nielsen was most famous for his roles in Airplane and The Naked Gun, and this classic scene is a favorite amongst sports fans.
In The Naked Gun, Nielsen played a police officer named Frank Drebin, and those of us who are fans of "slapstick" comedy fell in love with this character.
Nielsen was born in Canada (it seems like all the best comedians are), and he actually started his acting career with more serious roles.
Lucky for us, Nielsen had a breakout performance in the cult classic Airplane which produced one of the most quoted movie lines in history.
When asked "Surely you can't be serious?" Nielsen's character responded, "I am serious...And don't call me Shirley."
Nielsen has appeared in over 100 films and over 1,500 television episodes throughout his career, and he has received countless awards for his talents.
Rest in peace, Leslie Nielsen.
You will be missed.
