Bowl projections are breaking down the New Year's Day bowl games, and in the Outback Bowl it's looking like Iowa and South Carolina.

Now, there is some debate about Penn State possibly getting this game over the Hawkeyes, but last year Iowa went to a BCS bowl game while the Nittany Lions found themselves out of the BCS. I think Iowa gets the nod and takes on the Gamecocks, who will lose to Auburn in the SEC Championship Game this weekend.

Now, South Carolina has a shot, and could go to the BCS, but I think that Cam Newton and company are just too much for the Gamecocks to handle.

However, I think South Carolina is a better team than the Hawkeyes and Steve Spurrier will have the Gamecocks ready to go for this game and lead them to a big bowl victory.

Prediction: South Carolina 35, Iowa 23
