Breaking news just came through a few minutes ago via Twitter.com.

The University of Miami fired head coach Randy Shannon Saturday night and they may have found a new head coach in ESPN NFL Analyst Jon Gruden.

Gruden has an extensive resume as a successful head coach, a notable accomplishment being winning Super Bowl XXXVII with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

According to a tweet by Bryan Fischer, a freelance writer at Yahoo Sports, "Gruden will be announced as the University of Miami's next head football coach."

If this rumor has substance, the hiring of Jon Gruden would be close to the best hiring the Hurricanes could have made besides former Miami (FL) University and Dallas Cowboys head coach Jimmy Johnson.

Once again, the hiring is not official, but I will be sure to keep all of you updated on the search for the Miami Hurricanes' next head football coach.
