Andre Berto: Talented Boxer Gets Quick Knockout

Fight fans got their chance to see two of the sport's best last night as Andre Berto and Juan Manuel Marquez both came away victorious.
Contributor Justin Tate recaps Berto's win in his article, and gets into an interesting discussion about matchups between Hispanic fighters and black fighters. In last night's bout, Berto (pictured) was taking on a Hispanic opponent in Freddy Hernandez
Tate writes, "Hispanic fighters going against black fighters has often in the past produced interesting and dynamic matchups that drive audiences to debate each fighter's merit and become fans of either combatant. With a knockout victory such as this, though, a gaining of fans is not likely, but a progression forward is guaranteed, even if not majorly forward."
As a longtime fight fan, I've always loved the matchups between Hispanic and black fighters. I remember being shocked when Bernard Hopkins took apart Felix Trinidad, and was stunned to see Sugar Shane Mosley defeat Oscar De La Hoya.
Of course, one of my favorite memories comes way back when Roberto Duran shook his head and said he had enough of Sugar Ray Leonard in the legendary "No Mas" fight.
