Affliction returns on Oct. 11th with "Day of Reckoning." But just like EliteXC's second primetime show on CBS that was lacking their star: Kimbo Slice,  "Day of Reckoning" will not be able to live up to the buys of Affliction: Banned without the mysterious Fedor. Nevertheless this is still a great card. Affliction once again puts most of their "STARS" on the card, just not their greatest star: Fedor.

Fedor is nursing a injury and was unable to fight Arlovski. Arlovski is safe for now, but the winner of Arlovski vs. Barnett is set fight Fedor, and so we shall see the best contender Affliction can give us challenging the greatest heavyweight of our time for the precious WAMMA belt.

While UFC fans might be sceptical of Josh Barnett's abilities and find him at the mercy of Andrei Arlovski, it is important to note Barnett has fought some of the best mixed martial arts fighters in the world and on paper has more experience against tougher fighters when compared to Arlovski.

Nevertheless Andrei Arlovski should be victorious. He should be able to out-box Barnett and if he can keep this fight on the ground, which I'm sure he will be training to do, he could win by TKO. Barnett on the other hand has the wrestling edge and has obviously seen Arlovski's poor ground performance against Ben Rothwell and, if he is smart, will focus on taking this fight to the ground and delivering a ground-and-pound Technical Knockout or grinding out a solid Decision win.

Either way Affliction will live up to its promise of delivering the fights the fans want to see.

  1. Affiliation has most of the fighters on the card because that all the fighter they have. Maybe Affiliation will make it and maybe not, as for Arlovski his last bout in Affiliation does not make up for the list of shitty one that came before. Sadly I don't buy pay per view with Arlovski as the main event. People say he didn't really try in his last fights in the UFC because of contract disputes. To me this is more reason to avoid Arlovski seen as fighting and his fans are not his main concern but him getting what he wants or he will not come out to play is.

    1. The organization is called "Affliction" after their clothing brand. I agree with you that Arlovski has not fought the caliber of opponents that Josh Barnett, a Pride veteran, has. I believe Arlovski has changed in Affliction to a more explosive and exciting fighter, and that is why I'm curious to see what will happen in this fight.

  2. Of course I will get the PPV b/c I love Andrei. Barnet is a monster, though, so this will be a really tough test of the "Pitbull's" ability. Good article.
