I think that I have came up with a plan that would change the face of not only the Maple Leafs GM position but also the head coaching job. I would like to hear your thoughts about my idea, and any changes that you would make, along with why you would make them. Here is the plan:

Co-General Manager

I will talk more about the other GM later but for now I would like to point out a Co-GM system. Somebody like Jim Rutherford would be great to bring new players to the Maple Leafs, while another GM could be used to send players out.

Co-General Manager/Head Coach

This position I would put in Mats Sundin, if I could not get Sundin, then I would not go with this system. However to bring in Sundin, they would need to offer him a sweet deal to retire. My reasoning for bringing in Sundin is so he can be the one to send players out of Toronto, because he was in that dressing room long enough to know who should and who shouldn't be in the Maple Leafs room. Also, seeming that Mats Sundin was a great player for many year I think that he would be respected a lot more than Ron Wilson.

If Mats Sundin is the one to be sending players out of the organization than I think that he should also be the coach, that way he knows what things are like in the room. That is why I have always liked the GM to also be the head coach.

Now I am not saying that this system should come into place right now, I think that first they should see how things go with Ron Wilson. Maybe this system could work in the next 7 years.
