I was watching a T.V. show on SPEED the other day, and they were showing how NASCAR runs the races.
Anyway, up in the tower with Humpy Wheeler at Lowe's Motor Speedway was all NASCAR's big wigs (Pemberton, France, Helton etc.,). After the race, Mike Helton looked at Humpy and said "We did the best we could."
Which to me is ridiculous.
NASCAR shouldn't matter in the finish of the race. That should be determined by the cars, drivers and teams.
Every week we see a yellow to bunch up the field to, "Make it more exciting for the fans."
When do refs or umpires determine games and stop them in the middle. It makes no sense!!
NASCAR has consistently said "We want to be more like Football and Baseball."
When have we ever seen baseball, stop an 8-1 game in the eighth inning, and make it 8-7 to make it more exciting for the fans?? NEVER.
So why does NASCAR do it?? If MLB did that, I think they would lose a lot of fans!!
Maybe that is why NASCAR is not America's Fastest Growing Sport, like it was for so many years.
Not every baseball game I've watched is exciting. Not every football game I've watched is exciting, so why does every race HAVE to be exciting.
Me personally, I would love to see the real winner win. That to me would be "In the Best Interest of the Sport," like NASCAR says is their goal.
So I ask you race fans. Would you rather watch a fair race or an exciting race??
