Obviously all have our own special moments that make us proud to be wrestling fans. So, my moments may not be as epic as the ones you hold special in your hearts.
So, lets jump into the rabbit hole rediscover the moments, matches and promos that made me a fan of pro wrestling!
Unbreakable 2005 for the X Title: AJ Styles Vs. Samoa Joe Vs. Christopher Daniel
This match is just pure athleticism and is the match that got me watching TNA and the match that introduced me to three TNA originals: AJ Styles, Samoa Joe and Christopher Daniel.
This match is one of the very few matches from TNA that has truly kept me on the edge of my seat. The outcome of the match was hard to predict as you gotta remember at this time any of those three men could have walk out of that six-sided ring as champ.
During this time you had Christopher Daniel who held the belt for 150 days and successfully defended against the likes of Petey Williams, Matt Bentley, Chris Sabin and Austin Aries!
Then you got the phenomenal AJ Styles who was the previous champion and it a deadly opinion to face in the ring as he can take it to the mat and to the air.
You also got an undefeated Samoa Joe who was convincingly kicking ass and taking names and was the odds on favorite to win the match due to his streak.
After a grueling classic five star bout, AJ Styles walked out of that ring as the champ!
Shawn Michaels Superkicking Marty Jannetty
The kick that was heard around the world and would be the genesis of a Hall of Fame singles career.
Let's consider the ramifications if HBK never superkicked Marty Jannetty.
There would be no Degeneration X or the many amazing feuds that HBK had over the 20-plus years with the WWE.
For better or for worse there would be no Montreal screw job.
No epic Wrestlemania encounters with The Undertaker.
This was a important moment in the wrestling world and an important one for me!
Stone Cold Steve Austin ECW Promo
Stone Cold gave some many classic promos, from his 3:16 speech to how he was going to win the royal rumble with a beer belly.
The one promo from Stone Cold is one that was told before he became Stone Cold. It's was one of those days back in the 90s where I was watching ECW and this long-haired blonde redneck speaking on the mike who went by the name Steve Austin.
By the end of that promo I had a feeling way deep down in my stomach that was Telling me, "Jacob that SOB will be the next big thing in wrestling." and lo and behold that blonde hair redneck went on to become one of the biggest stars of the Attitude Era.
This middle finger flipping, beer guzzling SOB turned out pretty fine after his stint form ECW and give me a "hell yeah" if you agree!
Hogan Turning Heel
Remember how in the 80s Hulk Hogan told us to take our take our vitamins and say our prayers?
Well, I sure do, and when Hogan turned heel at WCW's Bash at the Beach PPV, I felt like I needed to take all the vitamins and then proceed to shove it up his ass!
Yeah I was that pissed that Hogan sided with Hall and Nash when he did his signature leg drop on Randy Savage.
One moment you have the fan cheering for him then the next fans throw piles of their trash towards the ring and boo the hell out of the trio.
I still have a bad taste in my mouth over this heel turn but it was indeed one of the greatest heel turns of all time!
The Rock, Hulk Hogan and Kane Backstage
This is one of those segments that never stop being funny no matter have many times you have you have viewed it on YouTube. The first time I saw this on my television I laughing so hard to the point that it felt like my lungs were going to explode.
It's Hogan and The Rock doing their typical thing—we have all seen the same act countless times. Once Kane enters the segment is when the funny hits the fan!
You've got the Big Red Machine saying classic lines of The Rock and Hulk Hogan with his own twist on it. Hell, Kane even named his fans the "Kanenites!"
This makes me miss having Kane with a mask back, as Glen Jacobs was always better as the masked Kane!
Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels Wrestlemaina 13 Iron Man Match
You got the Showstopper, The Icon, Mr. Wrestlemania in one corner and you got the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be in the opposing corner.
The stage is Wrestlemania 13.
The WWF(E) title is on the line. For Hart to retain or for HBK to walk away with it, they must endure one hour of of grueling wrestling.
This match is a work of art that seems like Leonardo Da Vinci painted the match with his own hands. This is one of those classic, legendary matches that will always be talked about for generations to come.
One hour later, after some 5-star wrestling by both wrestlers, the match was a draw as no one was pinned or submitted. The match restarted for sudden death, and with both men gassed out, it seem like it could go either way.
HBK willed one superkick, and as they say the rest is history!
The Miz Becomes The WWE Champion
I've been a Mizfit since The Miz's debute back in 2004.
I stuck with him when everybody was saying he will be future endeavored within the first few months of his debute.
I stuck with him when they where saying that The Miz was playing second fiddle to John Morrison.
When the team broke up, many where saying that John Morrison will become the breakout star while they where predicting that The Miz would be released within mere months of the breakup.
Again, the The Miz proved them all wrong, and he even went through a makeover and won the United States Championship twice and normally gets the better of JoMo.
The the unthinkable happened!
The Miz won the Raw Money in the Bank match and was on his way to completing his lifelong dream of becoming WWE Champion.
People still didn't have faith in The Miz, as everyone predicted that he would be the first to fail cashing in the MITB shot.
Then on one faithful Monday in November, The Miz cashed his MITB shot against the current WWE champion Randy Orton. Three tense minutes occurred where The Miz was trying to avoid Orton's RKO while trying to pin him, while Orton fended him off at every turn.
Then Orton went for the RKO and......THE MIZ REVERSES IT TO A SKULL CRUSHING FINALE AND PINS ORTON TO BECOME THE WWE CHAMPION.
He proved all his haters wrong with that single win.
Also I truly marked out for the first time since the Attitude Era, as it brought back those old feelings when your favorite wins his first world title!
