Nebraska Vs. Texas A&M Football: Taylor Martinez to Start
Taylor Martinez has been announced as Nebraska's starting quarterback against Texas A&M this evening. That announcement isn't a real surprise -- Bo Pelini has been saying all along that Martinez will be his starter. What will be critical for Nebraska's success is whether Martinez can get back to being, well, T-Magic.
Against Kansas last week, Martinez was clearly hampered by his injured ankle. The play-calling was much more conservative, and the Jayhawks' defense quickly figured out that Martinez wasn't the threat he used to be, making the zone read far less effective. NU had to resort to the Wildcat offense again to gain some momentum in the running game.
Backup quarterback Zac Lee has been nursing an injured throwing hand, but was also out taking warmup throws before the game. We should know within the first few offensive snaps what percentage Martinez is tonight, and based on that what kind of threat NU will present to the Wrecking Crew defense.
