This Saturday, the Pittsburgh Panthers will look to rebound from their first conference loss when they go on the road to take on the South Florida Bulls. The Panthers lost 30-28 at Connecticut last week, but still lead the Big East 3-1.

The Bulls rallied for a 27-24 overtime win at Louisville last week for their third straight win and could move into at least a tie for first with a win this week. Pittsburgh improved to 4-3 all-time against South Florida, with a 41-14 win at home last season. If you are thinking about betting on this game, the current college football odds have the Panthers as a 2.5 point road favorite over the Bulls.

Pittsburgh (5-4, 3-1 Big East): The Panthers came into the game against Connecticut on a roll, but the offense got off to a slow start and the defense really struggled to stop the run in a disappointing loss.

The Panthers got a solid performance from running backs Dion Lewis and Ray Graham, as the duo combined for 152 yards and three touchdowns on 29 carries. Quarterback Tino Sunseri completed 20 of 28 for 220 yards and a touchdown, but had two big interceptions in the first half that kept points off the board for the Panthers.

The big story in this game was the Panthers' inability to stop the Huskies running game, as Connecticut racked up 249 yards on the ground, with 222 yards coming from Jordan Todman. The Panthers hadn’t allowed more than 122 yards in a game this season. Stopping the run will be priority number one this week.

South Florida (6-3, 3-2 Big East): The Bulls fell behind 14-3 with just under three minutes to play in the first half, but Lindsey Lamar returned the ensuing kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown and the Bulls rolled off 18 unanswered points to take a 21-14 lead in the fourth quarter.

Louisville answered with a late touchdown to send the game into overtime. The Cardinals opted to go for it on fourth and inches from the four yard line on their first possession, but failed, allowing Maikon Bonani to nail a 37-yard field goal to give the Bulls the win.

The Bulls had just 259 yards of total offense and were just two of 14 on third down conversions. B.J. Daniels had just 87 yards on 11 of 19 passing, but did have a 48 yard touchdown pass to Dontavia Bogan. The Bulls got a big game from running back Demetris Murray, who had 106 yards on just 13 carries. With the way the Panthers struggled to stop the run last week, Murray could be in for a heavy workload this weekend.

Defensively, South Florida has been solid all season, allowing just under 20 points a game and only 229 yards of total offense. The key for the Bulls, much like the Panthers, will be stopping the running game.

Looking at the Odds: While I don’t think it will be easy, I believe the Panthers are the better team. You just can’t pass up on getting them at less than a field goal in this one. The Panthers aren’t going to allow the Bulls to run all over them like Todman did last week. My final score prediction is Pittsburgh 27, South Florida 20.
