Espanyol's midfielder Albert Riera has flown into England for a medical with Liverpool.

Liverpool were in competition with Merseyside rivals, Everton for Riera who has had a stint with Manchester City in the Premier League before.

After admitting defeat on their pursuit of Aston Villa's Gareth Barry, Liverpool deciding to chase Albert Riera.

The fee involved is thought to be around £8m and Riera will be in contention for Sunday's clash against Aston Villa. Ironically, Gareth Barry is all set to play in that game...
