College Football Lines: Air Force By Almost 3 TDs Over UNLV

This Thursday, the Air Force Falcons will look for their third straight win when they go on the road to take on the UNLV Rebels.
The Falcons had no trouble taking care of business last week against New Mexico, winning 48-23 at home. The Rebels also come into the game off a win, as they beat Wyoming 42-16 to snap a five-game losing streak. The Falcons have won five of the last six in the series, including a 45-17 win at home last season. The oddsmakers don’t think much will change this year as the current college football odds have the Falcons favored by 19 points over the Rebels in this one.
Air Force (7-4, 4-3 MWC)
After losing starting quarterback, Tim Jefferson late in the second quarter with the Falcons leading just 14-7, Air Force turned to the ground game to pull away for an easy win. Nathan Walker and Asher Clark each had 95 yards on the ground and combined to score three touchdowns as the Falcons ended up running for 373 yards in the win.
Backup, Connor Dietz stepped in for Jefferson and played extremely well, completing five of seven passes for 67 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions, and also added 34 yards and a score on the ground. Jefferson doesn’t appear to be seriously injured and should be back in the lineup this week.
Look for the Falcons to have another huge day on the ground in this one as the Rebels come in allowing 212 rushing yards and just over 37 points a game this season.
UNLV (2-8, 2-4 MWC)
As bad as Wyoming is on the defensive side of the ball, the Rebels 42-point outburst last week was a bit of a surprise as UNLV had scored just 59 points in their previous five games.
Quarterback Omar Clayton connected on 13 of 18 attempts for 163 yards and three touchdowns, and Tim Cornett added 70 yards and three scores on the ground as the Rebels scored a touchdown on six of their 10 drives last week. The Falcons come in allowing 202 yards a game on the ground, but are much better against the pass as they rank fifth in the country, allowing just 150.5 yards a game.
Looking at the Odds
While the Rebels figure to have some success running the ball this week, the Falcons are much more explosive on the offensive side of the ball and should be able to jump out to an early lead. This is the final game of the season for the Falcons before eventually playing in a bowl game, so I expect them to play with a ton of intensity and run away with this one. Air Force is 29-14 ATS in road games off a home win since 1992.
My final score prediction is Air Force 42, UNLV 17.
