Round 12: This is it. Margarito almost certainly needs a heroic late KO to win. Pacquiao could probably win by getting on his bike. He's not, though, still throwing as he moves. Pac-Man's fans are singing goodbye to the Tijuana Tornado. Tony looks like he will battle his way to the final bell. He eats a three-shot combo to the head. There's another combination from Pacquiao. It's a little late for Margarito's repeated jabs. That's it, and we'll head to the scorecards.

Round 11: Margarito's right eye is a mess, looking like it's almost completely shut. Manny pops him and dances away. Pacquiao tess off repeatedly as he circles around his man. Four punches in a row connect for Manny. Tony is still punching, but he's taking some serious abuse. The ref calls another short timeout to look at Margarito's eye. Even with Manny's back on the ropes, Tony isn't landing enough punches.

Round 10: The ref calls time again, presumably to check out Margarito's eye. They quickly resume fighting. Pac-Man busts out the first combinations of this round. Margarito needs a fight-changing punch or more success cornering his foe. Pacquiao drops bombs with both hands in two flurries. Tony keeps trying to advance. They go to the ropes, but Manny quickly escapes. A short right hook wobbles Margarito for just a moment.

Carlson: 10-8 Pacquiao
Round Nine: There's no question that Margarito has taken some of the aggressiveness out of Pacquiao. The first minute features mostly single shots landing. Pac-Man's fans try to rev him up. Manny does a better job punching before he is backed all the way up this time. He's also pot shotting often as he moves. Margarito lands a nice right upstairs.

Round Eight: Another tentative start in this frame. Margarito lands first but misses his big right uppercut. He flurries once he has Manny backed into the ropes. Pacquiao answers in kind and turns him around. Tony calms down and lands to the head and body in succession. He rocks Pac-Man's head back with some looping shots along the ropes. Pacquiao has to scramble again to avoid getting trapped. Great action along the ropes gets a roar from the crowd.
Tylwalk: 10-9 Margarito

Round Seven: There's a short delay to start this round. Margarito's cut looks okay for the moment. He's turned up his work rate. Pacquiao is using more single shots as he circles and backs away. Good shots land both ways as they come together in the center. Margarito keeps his guard tight but some punches are still getting through. Tony lands some power shots along the ropes as the bell rings, but I still don't know if it was enough to take that round.

Round Six: Pacquiao retreats as Margarito stalks him. Quiet start to this frame compared to the last few. Margarito is reaching and getting caught with shorter shots. He's also missing more as Manny moves laterally. Pac-Man lands three in a row right up the middle. Manny flurries to the body, mostly for show. A brawl breaks out along the ropes and Pacquiao is rushing backward to avoid an onslaught. He fights off the ropes as the round ends.

Carlson: 10-9 Pacquiao
Round Five: Margarito still looks like he's plenty intense, though he gets tagged in the first 30 seconds repeatedly. Pacquiao is crisp, but Tony backs him into the ropes and tries to bully him. The volume punching is definitely going Manny's way. Pac-Man fires short rights and lefts on the inside, but Tony just keeps coming. There's a good combination from Margarito. Five in a row that are partially blocked but not answered by Tony. He's bleeding a bit on his right side as Pac-Man bounces and pops him.

Round Four: Margarito has his best early success here, forcing Pacquiao to retreat a bit. Manny just misses a big uppercut. Vicious combination punching sees Manny land about ten shots while taking three in return. Margarito winces from a body shot and Pacquiao turns up the pressure. That was the first time he's really looked hurt thus far. Both men stay extra cautious for the final minute as they each tasted the other's power in that frame.

Round Three: Manny flashes the quick combos again but doesn't seem to be hurting Tony. There's a stinging left hook that may have proven me wrong. Margarito keeps coming forward as expected. The ref steps in and warns both men about holding and hitting. Margarito smiles as he gets hit with a flurry. He got one solid shot in there too. Tony connects with a right hook. Both men try to turn it up before the bell.

Round Two: Margarito seems to be concentrating on keeping his guard tighter. He gets in a right hand as they brawl for a bit. Manny ducks in to go to the body. Nice combination punching by Pacquiao. Tony backs him into the ropes but only for an instant. Both men land some shots as they head back to the center of the ring. Pac-man lands hooks with both hands but has to cover as Margarito flurries. Closer round.

Round One: Tony doesn't want to touch gloves. Both men tentatively flick out some jabs. Pac-Man goes to the body and head. Each man looks crisp when he throws. Pac-Man goes to the body and is immediately greeted with head shots back. Triple jabs both ways. Nasty left hook by Pacquiao in the middle of an exchange. One-two to the head drives Margarito back a step. Every clean connect by Tony is answered by multiple punches.

The referee in charge of the action tonight is Laurence Cole. Michael Buffer is just about to launch into the fighter introductions.
My fellow Featured Columnist, Dave Carlson, will be sending me scores for each round as well. He's seated just a few rows in front of me.
There's a video of Pacquiao's greatest hits set to "Thunderstruck" by AC/DC. Pac-Man is a little quicker during his ring walk, smiling and waving as he goes. Pacquiao is 51-3-2 with 38 knockout wins, and he's run off 12 straight victories since losing to Erik Morales in March 2005.
Margarito starts to make his way to the ring to traditional Mexican music and the sound of storms. The Tijuana Tornado is 38-6 with 27 KOs. He's fought just once since he was suspended in the wake of the hand wrap controversy before his fight with Shane Mosley, winning a 10-round decision over Roberto Garcia in May.
A very dramatic video package of former champions and great boxing moments is shown. This is the kind of thing that HBO does so well.
We're through all three national anthems and a performance by Nelly. The lights are dimmed and the anticipation is building.
Michael Buffer reads off scores of 94-94, 95-94 and 97-93. The winner by majority decision is Mike Jones.
Jones is still swinging for the fences as we head down the home stretch, but Soto-Karass is willing and able to take shots to land his own. Huge punches land both ways in the final minute. Props go out to both men for putting it all out there, and the crowd rightfully shows some appreciation.
A minute into Round 9, the ref stops the action so that Soto-Karass can have his eye checked out. It's just a brief break before the fight resumes. Jesus looks to land more punches the rest of the way, but the cut is really bad by the end of the round.
Max Kellerman is reporting that Roach suspected that Margarito may have taken something with ephedrine in it. Meanwhile, Soto-Karass likely won Round 8 by landing more flush shots than Jones. Two rounds to go.
