David Haye Defends His WBA Heavyweight Title against Audley Harrison
David Haye (24-1 22 KO) tries to defend his WBA title for the second straight time against Audley Harrison (27-4 20 KO) in the M.E.N. Arena in Manchester England.
This is the first all British heavyweight title showdown since Lennox Lewis knocked out Frank Bruno in 1993.
This fight was about what was expected. Harrison didnt throw more than 10 punches and didnt land more than four or five. He showed that he has no heart and the first time he took a shot he was done. This does nothing for Haye and hopefully we will decide to take some bigger fights after this dreadful fight.
Harrison pumps out the jab to start the round. Haye lands a big right hand and Harrison backs up onto the ropes. Haye lands another big right and Harrison is hurt. Harrison wobbles onto the ropes and covers up. Haye is throwing everything lands some uppercuts and puts Harrison down. Harrison up at the count of eight. Haye runs across the ring and finishes the fight with Harrison on his feet.
Again no action in round 2. At one point the ref. stepped in and told them to mix it up. Haye wins the round because he caught Harrison on the ropes a few times and landed a few decent right hands.
Wow. One of the most boring rounds of boxing I have ever seen. Nothing of note landed at all (and I dont know if a punch was landed at all). Harrison towers over Haye but neither did much of anything. Haye wins round because he rushed twice to try and land punches
Round 1 has started.
Haye is getting introduced now and the crowd is going wild for him. Harrison got booed fairly heavily and the crowd is a big one and is making a lot of noise.
They finally are in the ring and Harrison is getting introduced by ring announcer Jimmy Lennon Jr.
