Thursday 8/28

7:00 PM

ESPN 360: Jacksonville St @ Georgia Tech------------->Georgia Tech

-This is your first chance to see Georgia Tech's new option offense attack under Paul Johnson, who was the mastermind behind the nation's leading rushing attack last year at Navy that averaged an outstanding 348.8 yards on the ground per game.

7:30 PM

ESPNU: Vanderbilt @ Miami(OH)---------------------->Miami(OH)

-Miami has a 11-12-1 record against SEC teams.  Can Miami make it to .500 against SEC teams?  There is a good chance.  Vanderbilt is supposed to be in a rebuilding year this year.  Miami travelled to Vanderbilt last year and had a 13-10 3rd quarter lead, but ended up losing by a score of 24-13.

8:00 PM

ESPN: NC State @ South Carolina-------------------->South Carolina

-Is this going to be Spurrier's last year?  If the Visor is seriously considering hanging it up after this year, this game could give the rest of the nation some insightful hints to what the near future could hold for the ole ball coach.

8:10 PM

Fox: #23 Wake Forest @ Baylor-------------------->Wake Forest

-How good is Wake Forest going to be this year?  Can they contend for the ACC title again?  Will Baylor be able to compete in the Big XII this year?  Get an early sneak peak in this Big XII vs ACC matchup.

9:00 PM

ESPN 2: Oregon State @ Stanford------------------>Oregon State

-Do not forget to watch the Pac-10 conference opening game over on ESPN 2.

Friday 8/29

8:00 PM

ESPN: SMU @ Rice--------------------------------->SMU

-How long will it take for June Jones to build up the program at SMU?  Is this something that can happen immediately or will it take a few years?  Take some time to watch part of this game between Texas teams.

Saturday 8/3

12:00 PM

ESPN: #17 Virginia Tech @ East Carolina----------->East Carolina

-Virginia Tech travels on the road to East Carolina.  The two teams faced off at Lane Stadium last year, and Virginia Tech was able to overcome East Carolina in a 17-7 win.  East Carolina went into the half with the lead last year, and they kept the game competitive throughout.  Now Virginia Tech returns the favor with a road trip to East Carolina.  Can the experience of the East Carolina squad overcome a youthful but talented Virginia Tech team?

ESPN2: Syracuse @ Northwestern----------------->Northwestern

-this should be a nice Big East vs. Big 10 match-up.  Syracuse was stuck at the bottom of Big East last year, while Northwestern had a slow start last season.

12:30 PM

Raycom: Hawaii @ Florida------------------------>Florida

-will Florida's defense be improved?  How will the secondary hold up against Hawaii's run and shoot offense?

3:30 PM

ABC: #3 USC @ Virginia-------------------------->USC

-Will USC continue to dominate its nonconference schedule?  How will Mark Sanchez look as USC's new signal caller, and will the offense be good enough to make USC a solid title contender?  What will life be like after Chris Long at Virginia?
ABC:Utah @ Michigan--------------------------->Utah

-Will Michigan drop its second straight home opener?  How will Rich Rodriguez's spread offense look without Pat White, Steve Slaton, or Noel Devine?  Can Utah be a BCS crasher this year?

Fox: Oklahoma State @ Washington State------->Oklahoma State

-A great Big XII vs Pac10 match-up.

5:00 PM

ESPN: App State @ #7 LSU--------------------->LSU

-Can App State pull off the upset again or will LSU's speed and talent be too much?

6:45 PM
ESPN2: Mississippi State @ Louisiana Tech------ >Mississippi State

-Can you believe that 2 SEC teams are travelling on the road for nonconference games?

7:00 PM

Florida Atlantic @ #11 Texas------------------->Florida Atlantic

-Can Will Muschamp improve the defense fast enough?  Texas will need to be improved against the pass because FAU features one of the best passing attacks in the nation.
ESPNU: Boston College @ Kent State------------>Boston College

-BC's first game without Matt Ryan is on the road.  This could get interesting.

8:00 PM

ABC: #24 Alabama @ #9 Clemson--------------->Clemson

-Maybe the game of the week.  This is a must watch.  It will be played in the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.  We should find out if Clemson is for real or if they are just a big pretender.

ABC: Michigan State @ California--------------->California

-these two teams will be tough to figure out.  Kevin Riley was named the starter over Nate Longshore.  This Big10 vs Pac10 match-up should be a great game.

8:30 PM

ESPN: #20 Illinois @ #6 Missouri---------------->Missouri

-this could also be the game of the week.  Missouri got the upperhand last year, but Illinois will hopefully have Juice Williams the entire game.

10:00 PM

Washington @ #21 Oregon----------------->Oregon

-the Pac-10 conference schedule is getting underway.  Oregon should have a solid defense, and Ty Willingham needs to do well to keep his job.  So, this one could get really interesting.

Sunday 8/31

3:30 PM

ESPN: Kentucky @ Louisville---------------------->Louisville

-a great and bitter rivalry that is as intense as any rivalry out there.

Monday 9/1

4:00 PM

ESPN: Fresno State @ Rutgers-------------------->Rutgers

-there is a lot of hype surrounding this Fresno State team.  It would be quite a let down if they lost in week 1.  If they do win this game, though, there is a good chance that this team could be crashing the BCS this year.

8:00 PM

ESPN: #18 Tennessee @ UCLA-------------------->Tennessee

-the last time Tennessee went to California it was not a very memorable trip for them.  Can UCLA pull off the upset?
