It's Official: Oscar De La Hoya To Fight Manny Pacquiao

Jeremy KaufmanSenior Analyst IOctober 20, 2016

It’s official. ESPN has just announced that on December 6, 2008, the legendary Oscar De La Hoya will fight Manny Pacquiao, the current greatest pound for pound fighter in boxing.

The finances of the fight as well as the weight class have yet to be disclosed, although they will likely be announced on Thursday when De La Hoya will have a press conference in respect to the fight.

This news will likely shock the majority of the boxing world, because this fight had previously reached a stalemate during negotiations as each side was unable to agree upon both the payout as well as the weight class under which the fight would be held.

However, the necessary agreements have been reached, and the fight will take place on December 6.

I, for one, can’t wait.
