Manchester City Interested In Brazil's Ronaldo
Formerly the world's best striker, and one of the best in history, Ronaldo has lost his golden touch in the last couple of years. He Holds the record with Zinedine Zidane for the most World Player of the Year awards (3) in 1996,1997,2002, he also holds significantly a second place World Player of the Year award in 1998 and a 3rd place award for 2003. Astonishingly Ronaldo won most of these awards before he was 22.
Recently released from his contract at Milan, Ronaldo is currently recovering from a career threatening knee injury with he attained during a match against Livorno in Serie A in February this year. El fenomeno, as the Italian media tagged him upon his arrival at Inter Milan, has been linked for the last few days with a move to Manchester City. It is well documented that City want a 'superstar' to boost their image and popularity abroad, especially in Asian. Ronaldo's image in Asia, ever since winning the world cup In Korea/Japan with Brazil in 2002 has been golden, and City see this as a substantial move to increase that popularity.
As he is a free agent, a club can sign him past the transfer deadline, so there is plenty of time for both party's. If this deal does come to fold, it would provide for an intriguing season ahead. With the possibility of seeing the two Ronnie's go at it, and with the added spice of the Manchester derby, it will have many drooling in anticipation.
At 31, Ronaldo still has a couple of good years left in him. And having played in every major league in Europe bar the Premier League, this could add the needed incentive for Ronaldo to show the world that he still has it in him to make a mark on the big time.
