Philip Gogulla of the Buffalo Sabres Makes His Mark in International Tournament

The Red Bull Salute, an invitational tournament hosted by the Salzburg Red Bulls of Austria's top hockey division, has come to completion.

The tournament consisted of six teams—three out of Eastern Europe, and three from the west. HC Sparta Prague was the eventual winner of the Tournament, defeating the ZSC Lions of Switzerland in the final. Former Columbus Bluejacket David Vyborny notched two goals in three games, proving to be an offensive leader for HC Sparta.

Also of note:

Former New Jersey Devil Sergei Brylin notched two goals in three games for his new KHL club SKA Saint Petersburg, while Buffalo Sabres prospect Philip Gogulla had a great tourney for the Cologne Sharks, notching a goal and two assists in three games, despite a disappointing fifth place finish by his German club.

The top goalie of the tourney was Tomas Popperle, who was in the Blue Jackets system last season, playing for the AHL's Syracuse Crunch.  He notched victories in both his appearances for HC Sparta.
