Well, we don't have to wait very long too see the boys in action after what turned out to be a great weekend of Premier League action.

The first set of midweek games showcase some fantastic fixtures highlighted by a City - United derby.  Tottenham and Chelsea look to bounce back from their weekend defeats as Liverpool hope that their momentum will be ever present in the short turnaround.

Stoke City vs. Birmingham

Stoke has been on terrible form having dropped their last 4 league games.  Birmingham City, on the other hand, are unbeaten in their last 3.

Points come at a premium for both teams who find themselves towards the bottom of the table.  Neither team has much of an attacking spark, so don't be surprised if this one finishes without much excitement

Prediction: Stoke 0 - Birmingham 0

Tottenham vs. Sunderland

Last weekend Tottenham showed the world what happens when you live in the past rather than the present.  Bolton had no business putting up 4 goals on Spurs.  Harry Redknapp is hoping that loss serves as a wake up call for his very talented side.

Sunderland doesn't play well on the road.  Most recently, they lost to Newcastle 5-1.  Tottenham is sure to come out flying as they hope to have recently named player of the month, Rafael Vander Vaart, back in the lineup.

Look for Tottenham to win convincingly at White Heart Lane.

Prediction: Tottenham 2 - Sunderland 0

West Ham vs. West Bromwich

West Brom will be glad the Manchester City match is behind them.  This week they face a much less formidable opponent in West Ham who are only on 7 points this season.

West Brom has been making a case for themselves after being promoted just this season.  They are on a 2 game skid, but facing West Ham could be just what they need to get back on track.

However, West Ham have been decent at home, including a victory over Tottenham.  West Brom need to take advantage of these fixtures if they hope to remain in the Premier League next season.

Prediction: West Ham 1 - West Brom 2

Wigan Athletic vs. Liverpool

Fernando Torres is back!  With two blockbuster goals against Chelsea, Torres showed the rest of the league that he is over his early season injury woes.

Liverpool is so much more than just the Torres show, and they will not stop against a struggling Wigan side.  As long as The Reds can avoid the post huge win hangover (see Tottenham vs. Bolton), they will surely prevail.

Liverpool will be moving nowhere but up.

Prediction: Wigan 0 - Liverpool 3

Aston Villa vs. Blackpool

Aston Villa comes into this match having managed only 3 points in their last 5 league matches with no wins.  They find themselves lower in the table than most expected, but hope that a return home will help get them back in winning form.

Blackpool is coming off of back to back weekends where they managed a point at home.  Will their home form translate on the road?

Aston Villa needs to get something going soon if they hope to return to the top half anytime soon.

Prediction: Aston Villa 1 - Blackpool 0

Chelsea vs. Fulham

Chelsea's loss last weekend was the worst thing that could have happened to Fulham.  Chelsea has not lost back to back league games since last season.

Drogba will also be fresh after plaing just forty five minutes on Sunday.  Fulham doesn't travel well, and it all adds up to a Chelsea victory.

Consider this one as sure as the sun rising.

Prediction: Chelsea 3 - Fulham 0

Newcastle vs. Blackburn Rovers

Both teams hope to build off the momentum of weekend wins.  Newcastle must be full of confidence after taking down Arsenal on the road and Blackburn turned around their previous horrible form with a victory over Wigan.

Newcastle has been an up and down team so far this season.  They currently find themselves in 5th position in the table after earning victories in their last three games. Andy Carroll seems to be back in form having scored in 2 of those games.

Newcastle will win this game at home and show their fans that their place in the table is not an anomaly.

Prediction: Newcastle 2 - Blackpool 0

Wolverhampton vs. Arsenal

Wolves come into the game on very poor form.  They have managed just 9 points in eleven games which is good enough for second to last in the league.

One shining star in what seems to be a very cloudy sky was their victory at home over Manchester City just two weeks ago.  The scheduler was not kind to Wolves as they are set to face Arsenal after playing top tier teams in Manchester United and City in their previous two games.

Arsenal will be hungry for a victory after missing an opportunity to gain on Chelsea and keep pace with United.  Arshavin needs to play more like his early season form if Arsenal plans on keeping pace with the leaders.

Wolves will be a little beat up after losing a tough one to United last game, so Arsenal should be in a good spot to pick up three points.

Prediction: Wolves 1 - Arsenal 2

Everton vs. Bolton

Everton have turned around what was an abysmal start to the campaign.  American Tim Howard has been fantastic for Everton having recorded shutouts in three of their last five games.

Bolton has been doing well on the road so far which has allowed them to find themselves in an impressive 6th place in the table.

Both teams come in with confidence and good form, so expect this to be an attractive game from a neutral point of view.

Everton will surely earn a point and have a good opportunity for three.

Prediction: Everton 1 - Bolton 0

Manchester City vs. Manchester United

The best match of the week will be saved for last.

Manchester United will travel across town riding a six game winning streak.  More impressively, however, is that they are yet to be beaten in any competition this season.

Manchester City, on the other hand, has managed just one victory in their last four matches.  City will surely put the past behind them as they play host to crosstown rivals in what will surely be the most intriguing fixture of the week. There is so much at stake as both teams attempt to keep pace with Chelsea and Arsenal.

City will be United's highest ranked opponent thus far. The home fans will provide an enormous amount of energy that the home side will translate into a win.

Manchester United's unbeaten streak ends Wednesday night.

Prediction: City 2 - United 1
