Author's Note: Michael Griffin was unavailable for the second week of the Premier League due to health issues, he will be back on Friday with his predictions for week three of the 2008/2009 season.

Manchester United vs. Zenit St. Petersburg—Live on ITV1 and ITV HD—7:45pm

Manchester United will be gunning for their second major trophy of the season in one month, and as many have pointed out, United are on for seven trophies this year. It won't happen, we all know that, but just how many will United win this season?

Zenit St. Petersburg take their place in the final after their UEFA Cup triumph last season, which culminated in the defeat of Rangers. They have a strong squad, and will be looking to make another impression on Europe before their Champions League campaign begins.

United are rumoured to have Hargreaves and Ji-Sung Park available for this fixture, but manager Sir Alex Ferguson may not decide to risk them for this game. Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez are expected to lead the attack, but I have one thought, can Darren Fletcher score again?

One thing that has confused me is the fact that United played on Monday, in the one week this year where they will be playing on Friday? How is that fair? Is the FA trying to hinder their chances of winning this cup?

I have no idea what to expect from Zenit, but I do think that United will go all out for this competition. This will be another bragging right for all United fans who get into a chinwag with a Chelsea fan.

My prediction? I see this going United's way, but as has been the case this season, they will scrape it.

Prediction: Manchester United 1-0 Zenit St. Petersburg
