BCS Rankings Bowl Projections: Could Boise State be shut out of a BCS game?
Could Boise State be unbeaten and shut out of a major bowl game?
BCSGuru thinks so. This is semi-difficult to follow, but check this out. There's a lot to think about here.
Oregon and Auburn win out and play in the BCS national championship game.
TCU would play the Big Ten champion in the Rose Bowl. There is a provision in BCS rules that if there is an automatic qualifier among non-automatic qualifier conferences, and the Rose loses a team to the national championship game, it has to take those teams.
The Sugar Bowl has the next two picks and one is obviously an SEC team. But the next pick would be the No. 2 team in the Big Ten, which would be a one-loss team and very, very attractive. More attractive than Boise State.'
The Orange Bowl has the ACC champ and would probably opt for the No. 2 Big 12 team because of the old ties to the Big Eight.
And the Fiesta Bowl would have the Big 12 champ and Big East champion.
And that means no Boise State (and no Stanford, for that matter) in a BCS bowl.
